The skies over Mondstadt had never looked more inviting. A gentle breeze carried the scent of sweet flowers across the cobblestone streets, and for the Traveler, it meant only one thing — the annual Moonchase Festival had returned. It was 2026, and the second phase, known as the Path of Gentle Breezes, was now live, promising a fresh batch of Moonchase Charms and Mystmoon Treasure Chests scattered around the City of Freedom.
Having just finished the grueling Path of Stalwart Stone in Liyue, the Traveler stretched and headed for the Adventurers' Guild. This time, the search would be more relaxed — at least in spirit — since Mondstadt’s terrain was far more forgiving than the jagged peaks of Jueyun Karst. But generosity had its limits, and these Charms were not going to pick themselves up.
Linyang still manned her stall down by the harbor in Liyue, though her hints now extended northward. With a polite request, she would mark the rough locations of the Charms and Mystmoon Chests on the Traveler’s map, but only once per day. “Pace yourself,” she’d say with a wink. “The moonlight reveals all secrets, but only to those who don’t rush.”
The Traveler nodded, thanked her, and opened the map. Instantly, flame-like symbols blossomed across Mondstadt, and alongside them, tiny chest icons. These were not exact spots — just general clusters — but they were enough to get started.
The Hunt Begins in the City
Mondstadt City itself hid more than a few surprises. The Traveler began near the fountain plaza, scanning rooftops and ledges. A faint shimmer appeared on the mini-map — a Moonchase Charm, identical in glow to the Anemoculi of old. Clambering up a wall and gliding over to a windmill balcony, the Traveler found the first Charm resting on a wooden crate. 5 Primogems from a nearby Mystmoon Chest only sweetened the victory.
But not all treasures were so easy. Some chests were guarded by groups of Hilichurls who seemed to be having their own little festival around a cooking pot. The Traveler’s party burst onto the scene, swords clashing and spells flying, and within minutes the camp was silent. Behind a tattered tent sat the chest, patiently waiting.
The Whispering Woods and Beyond

Venturing outside the walls, the Traveler followed a hint cluster to the Whispering Woods. Under a canopy of golden leaves, two Charms glowed softly near a hollow stump. The mini-map chimed, but the Mystmoon Chests — cruel in their stealth — gave no such warning. The Traveler circled the area three times before spotting one nestled in the branches of a sun-dappled oak. A quick climb and a triumphant giggle later, another 5 Primogems were safely in the bag.
The real challenge came around Dawn Winery. The hints on the map indicated a cluster near the water’s edge, but the area seemed empty. Then the Traveler noticed a breakable rock pile half submerged in the stream. One crisp swing of a claymore later, a hidden Mystmoon Chest blinked into existence. Nearby, a Moonchase Charm rested on the opposite bank, almost invisible against the yellowing vines of autumn.
Tips from an Experienced Treasure Hunter

By the second day of the event, a fresh hint map had appeared, dredging up the final hiding spots. The Traveler learned a few crucial lessons during the hunt:
-
🧭 Charms appear on the mini-map — treat them like any oculi and follow the ping.
-
🎒 Mystmoon Chests do not show up — scan behind trees, under tents, and atop cliffs.
-
⚔️ Some chests are guarded — keep your battle party ready, especially near monster camps.
-
🕊️ Check high and low — Glide from the hands of the Anemo Archon’s statue or dive into secluded caves.
The Traveler recalled a particular chest perched on the roof of a hilichurl watchtower. Without a bow user, it would have gone unnoticed. Another was half-hidden in a bush near the Thousand Winds Temple. Patience, more than combat prowess, was the true treasure of this event.
Why the Moonchase Festival Still Matters
Even in 2026, veterans and newcomers alike find joy in the Moonchase Festival. The Path of Gentle Breezes phase might seem simple — a scavenger hunt with a poetic name — but its rewards are tangible. Each Mystmoon Chest contains 5 Primogems, and with over a dozen scattered across Mondstadt, that adds up to a healthy boost for any Wishing fund. The Moonchase Charms themselves unlock festival rewards and weave into the larger event narrative, celebrating the bonds between Liyue and Mondstadt.
Most importantly, it’s a reason to slow down. The Traveler paused on Starsnatch Cliff as dusk fell, Charms safely collected, and watched the moon rise over the sea. The Path of Gentle Breezes had demanded nothing but curiosity and a willingness to wander. For a world teeming with danger, that was a rare gift.
The Moonchase Festival would continue until October 11, leaving plenty of time for latecomers. But as Linyang said, better to walk the path now than scramble at the last moment. The Traveler smiled, turned toward the city gates, and started planning tomorrow’s route.
